Membership packages that are created 'Based on the Date Purchased' can begin at any point throughout the year and will expire after the term length, which you set when creating the package, has come to an end. This guide takes you through how to renew these membership packages.
Date of Purchase memberships start on the day that they were purchased on, and members will receive automatic renewal reminders one week prior to expiry and on the day of expiry. This reminder email will contain all the information they need about the package and a link to renew.
Members will be able to renew a maximum of 30 days prior to their membership expiry date, if they try to renew the same package before 30 days, they will get a message that they are already an active member.
We have split this article into 2 sections to help you easily find the relevant section:
Please note: Selecting "renew members on date of package anniversary will set the start date of the new package to the expiry date of the previous package + 1 day.

The email received by your member will look like the one shown below.
Once they have clicked on the 'Apply now and renew membership' link, they will be prompted to log in. Selecting the 'Login' button will allow them to login via their LTA details if they are registered via a different method such as an email still they will need to select 'Login with another method'. Once logged in with these details the steps to merge to an LTA account will appear, see here.
If they haven't registered before, they should click the 'Haven't created an account? Click here' link.
When they have signed in or registered, they will need to click on 'Renew now'.
They will then be taken to this screen, where they will be able to select the payment method they wish to use if you have provided them with different payment options.
Once the payment has been confirmed, you will receive an email notification. If they have made the payment online, all their information will be automatically updated. How you manage members who select offline payment methods can be decided in the membership settings. You will notice that the member's status has changed from 'Lapsed' to 'Active' within the membership package and updated to the new expiry date.
Payment history will show on the member's record so you can check to see which year has been paid.
Renewals- Auto-payment/Reminder Emails
You can set up auto-payments for these type of packages, if you enable this feature your members who pay by Direct Debit and have an existing mandate with you will be automatically renewed at the end of the membership term.
We'll email them 30 days before the membership is set to expire to notify them and give them the option to opt out. The renewal cost will be taken from the renewal amount set in the package. Members will also be emailed on the renewal date to confirm the membership has renewed. Members who pay by other means or that don't have a Direct Debit mandate will be sent renewal reminders if these are enabled.
Renewal reminder emails can be sent 30 days before expiry, 7 days before expiry, on the day of expiry or all of these. In order to select which of these you would like to apply for your package, select the Date of Purchase Package you would like this to apply to, select 'Member Options', 'Edit package' and then scroll to the bottom of the page, where you will see the heading 'Renewals'. Here you will be able to select how many days before expiry you would like members to receive their renewal reminder emails.
